Pressing

Towanda Metadyne's pressing area is a humidity-controlled area consisting of mechanical presses ranging from 2 to 50 tons. Over 1,200 tool sets are currently available to meet the strict customer demands. The engineering staff of Towanda Metadyne has developed all press tooling and part set-ups. Close control of the pressing parameters, green dimensions, and weights ensures that the finished sintered parts will be dimensionally correct.

To compliment the mechanical pressing, Towanda Metadyne has invested in a cold isostatic press (8" Diameter X 36" Long X 30KSI). By using this method of pressing, Towanda Metadyne can process compacts without the need of binders. Larger parts or those of low volume are better pressed with this type of compaction.

The most complex pressing system available in our facility is the newly installed hot isostatic press (8" Diameter X 12" High X 30KSI X 3,630°f). This press allows Towanda Metadyne to use hot compaction densification techniques to offer densification of sintered materials along with the development of advanced materials.

In addition to conventional pressing techniques, Towanda Metadyne has a rotary press that has the capability of producing high volume precision parts.
